Thought For Today: Rest For Weary Souls

“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.” (Hebrews 4:9)

Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

While we can have peace because of Jesus’s victory over death and the ruler of this world, there still remains a rest that’s waiting.

What is that rest? It’s the hope of heaven. We can rest as believers in the hope that this life is not all there is. There’s an eternal life of rest waiting for us in heaven. It’s a rest from sin and evil, as we’ll live in the presence of the Lord forever.
