Thought For Today: The Manna Ceased
“The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan.” (Joshua 5:12)
Israel has entered into the Promised Land. No longer would God supernaturally feed them with manna. God would see to their need, but they would now be responsible to cooperate with God, which meant not only their physical labor, but their obedience as well.
God does supernaturally supply, but He also acts in cooperation with us. God not only wants us to put our hand to the plow, but by faith follow His word in obedience.
But this will never be sufficient in and of itself. We also need to seek God’s forgiveness and repent.
While the manna ceased, God has given the land to provide.
“My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
