Thought For Today: People of The Way
When Paul was speaking before the Sanhedrin he called those he persecuted as “followers of this Way” (Acts 22:4).
The word “way,” in the Hebrew means a person’s walk, or way and manner of life. In other words, Christians stood out wherever they were or in whatever situation they found themselves in.
These first followers of Jesus walked the talk; they lived as Jesus would have.
To those of the first church, Paul said, “That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.” (Philippians 2:15)
When people look at us, do they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are Christians, that we are like that first church, followers of “The Way.” Do we stand out for Jesus no matter what situation we find ourselves in?
