Tapping Into Success
If we want to prosper, that is, if we want to succeed in this world in whatever we do, then we need to take the way prescribed by God.
The Psalmist gives us this way saying, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.” (Psalms 1:1)
To prosper in this world we need to separate ourselves from its ways and purposes along with those who are immersed in it. Instead, we are to delight ourselves in God’s word, by meditating on its precepts and constantly following its advice.
“But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:2)
It’s then we’ll be like trees whose roots are tapped into a continual source of water that never dries up and that brings nourishment year-round so that the tree never dies, it never get’s tapped out, but will thrive under any circumstance. In other words, we’ll be successful.
“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:3)
But if we refuse, if we find ourselves tapped into the philosophies and methodology of this world, then desolation is what we’ll find in the end.
“The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away … the way of the ungodly shall perish.” (Psalm 1:4, 6b)
We need to be careful not to follow what the world says is right and correct; because then we’ll find ourselves in a moral quagmire who’s ending isn’t pleasant.
Instead we need to approach this life with a biblical worldview allowing God’s word to direct and guide our way. Then we’ll be tapped into God’s steady source and flow of nourishment with heaven as our ultimate reward.
