Faithfulness is Key
We live in a society and culture where faithfulness is more of a comedian’s punch line than a description of our generation. We live in a society and culture where promises are made but never kept as nations and politicians use words that contain escape clauses.
It’s in such an environment that people are searching for someone, anyone who will prove themselves faithful. And this is what God expects of His people.
God’s not impressed with half-baked Christianity, that is, a church and Christians that are faithful in some areas but not in all areas.
God expects faithfulness. Faithfulness is one of the nine qualities of the Fruit of the Spirit we’re to have on full display. (Galatians 5:22-23)
God calls us to faithfulness, and while the spirit may be willing, the flesh is indeed weak, which was Jesus conclusion when He asked Peter, James, and John to keep watch so He could go pray.
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)
Faithfulness to Jesus Christ and the gospel message was what helped the church to grow, but in today’s society faithfulness has taken a hit. Convenience has made faithfulness just about obsolete. If we desire for God to do a great work, then faithfulness to God and His word is essential.
Faithfulness is following Jesus Christ regardless of the difficulties we encountered. Faithfulness is never giving up, it’s hanging tough, and never quitting even through there may be disappointments, discouragements, and misunderstandings.
Faithfulness is all about commitment. It’s being fully committed to God, His word, and His church. Faithfulness is not just another description of a Christian; it’s an expectation of a true servant of God.
In the end, it’s our faithfulness that secures our eternity.
“Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
