Tuesday’s Thought: “It’s Not About ‘In’ or ‘From’”
We’ve all grown up with the story of how God delivered the Israelites from their Egyptian bondage, and as a result we believe that deliverance from our trials and tribulations is the highest form of good or spiritual blessing.
But then there’s another story about three young Jewish men who were tossed into a fiery furnace for not compromising their faith. God did not deliver them from the fiery furnace, instead He deliver them in it. Was this not also the highest form of good or spiritual blessing?
Is it deliverance from or the deliverance in?
The answer isn’t found in how the deliverance was accomplished (from or in), but rather it’s found in God’s ultimate purpose for these deliverances which is to reveal Himself as greater than the problems they faced.
So instead of asking why this happening; instead ask, “Lord, what can I learn about You through what I am going through?”
David realized that the ultimate purpose was to glorify God. “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” (Psalm 50:15)
